From the archives of legendary textile artist, Paule Marrot (1902–1987), a visionary French textile designer, painter, and engraver, transformed 20th-century decor with vibrant, nature-inspired patterns that blended Art Deco elegance and post-war optimism, earning her the title "popess of home decoration." Encouraged by Auguste Renoir as a child, she trained at the École des Arts Décoratifs and apprenticed in engraving, winning a gold medal at the 1925 International Exhibition and the 1928 Prix Blumenthal, which launched her workshops and collaborations with Paul Poiret and Manufacture Steiner, producing over 320 fabric designs. Her joyful motifs of flowers, birds, and butterflies, infused with bold colors and Fauvist influences, adorned the White House, Renault cars, and luxury liners like the Normandie, while her 1952 Légion d’Honneur recognized her timeless impact. Marrot’s legacy lives on through Editions Paule Marrot and partnerships like Soicher Marin, bringing her serene, rhythmic designs to modern audiences. Full biography upon request.
