Susan Hable is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Athens, Georgia, who was born and raised in Corsicana, Texas. After studying graphic design with a minor in art, she pursued her dream of studying in New York at Parsons School of Design, where she focused on fashion accessory design before expanding her skills through mixed media work with Fuji Studio and studying jewelry design in Florence with renowned designer Betony Vernon. In 1999, she co-founded Hable Construction with her sister Katharine, naming the company after their great-grandfather's 1970s Texas construction business. Known for her bold, colorful works that range from canvas prints to sculptures, Susan has developed a distinctive aesthetic characterized by vibrant, hand-drawn patterns and her exceptional sensibility with color and form. Working across multiple mediums including painting, drawing, paper collage, ceramics, and bronze, her multidisciplinary approach combines fine art with functional design, creating everything from textiles and furniture to fine art pieces. Her achievements include authoring the book "A Colorful Home: Create Lively Palettes For Every Room," having her Victorian-style Athens home featured in publications like Atlanta Magazine, and developing licensing partnerships with major brands while maintaining her commitment to handcrafted, artisan-made products.
